It Watches, Listens, and Measures
The Video Walkthrough Estimator processes your site media using intelligent visual and audio analysis. It handles video walkthroughs, photographs, PDF drawings, and spoken audio simultaneously. It doesn't just look at static images: it watches the walkthrough video, processes the details, and transcribes any spoken instructions from your walkthrough.
Quantity estimates are made using UK trade reference objects as benchmarks: a standard door (2.1m high × 0.76m wide), a standard floor tile (600×600mm), a brick course height (75mm), and a typical UK ceiling height (2.4m). These allow the system to estimate m², linear metres, and item counts without a tape measure.
The scanner processes all media in a single pass - so a job with tiling, electrical work, and plumbing in the same footage produces a complete multi-trade scope in one go. Multi-language support is built in: whether your client speaks Polish in the video, or you dictate site notes in Romanian, Spanish, or Ukrainian, the system transcribes and translates it into clean English. This allows multi-national trade teams to collaborate without language barriers.
Full Control Without the Spreadsheet
The core of TradesMan Quote is the quote editor - a fully interactive line-item worksheet where every value is editable in place. Quantities, unit prices, and notes can all be changed without leaving the page, and totals recalculate instantly on every change.
The defining UX feature is the price tier selector. Every system-generated line item stores three prices - LOW, AVG, and HIGH - calculated from our pricing database and adjusted for your regional multiplier. Switching tiers is a single button click: no lookup, no formula, no back-and-forth with the system. Ghost text shows all three values next to the buttons so you can see your options before deciding.
Yellow warning flags appear on lines where the Smart Scanner estimated a quantity it couldn't confirm on site. These are informational - they don't block approval, but they remind you to verify before sending to a client.
Purchase Order in One Click
Once a quote is approved, generate a companion materials list. The system reads every line item, filters out labour-only costs (skip hire, scaffolding, call-out charges), consolidates duplicate materials across different line items, applies standard UK trade wastage margins (10% for tiling, 5% for paint), and estimates merchant costs at current UK trade counter prices.
The output is a formatted PDF with material names, specifications, quantities, units, estimated unit costs, and estimated line costs. Bring it to the merchant, or send it to a supplier for a formal quote.
Show the Client a Schedule
Generate a project execution plan for any approved quote. Enter your workforce count and working week (5, 6, or 7 days) and pick a start date. The system sequences tasks in logical trade order - first fix before boarding, boarding before second fix, tanking before tiling - with realistic UK drying and curing wait times built in.
The output is a single-page A4 landscape Gantt chart PDF with your branding, visual bars, calendar dates, and a task summary table at the bottom. Share it with the client to set scheduling expectations and demonstrate professionalism.
Professional PDF Every Time
Quote PDFs are generated in memory and stored permanently in private Cloudflare R2 storage. They are available to download at any time after approval. The PDF includes your company logo, contact details, client information, an itemised line items table grouped by trade category, subtotal, VAT (if applicable), total, notes, and a valid-until date. A4 portrait, navy category headers, alternating row backgrounds.
Your Data Stays Yours
All uploaded job files are stored in a private Cloudflare R2 bucket (never publicly accessible). Files expire 14 days after quote approval (extended at approval). Quote PDFs and materials PDFs are permanent. The backend never exposes secret API keys. Authentication uses httpOnly cookies with JWT rotation or encrypted API keys.
